Antifeminism on the net. A study of the ideological structure of male networking
Abstract
Introduction: The ideological structure of male networking in which hate speech and violence against women emerge is investigated. Objectives and methodology: through a theoretical methodology, from the hermeneutics and criticism of scientific texts, the political, historical, and cultural basis behind the logic of employing a countercultural rhetoric within the male subcultures that make up the manosphere is identified. It also delves into the crisis of the ideal of masculinity as a backdrop to the growing antifeminist reaction in the network. Results: the uses of politically incorrect language, the use of countercultural rhetoric, the visceral hatred against women and the crisis of the ideal of masculinity dominate the ideological structure of male networking. Conclusions: the evolution of male networking presents the characteristics of a crisis of the ideal of masculinity in line with the structural and superstructural transformations of the last decades. The passage from the Pick Up Artist (PUA) subculture to the hegemony of the Incels clearly shows this transition.
