Labor market and entrepreneurship of women as cultural and creative agents in Yucatan

Abstract

Introduction. Although cultural and creative activities have been part of the economy, this has led to a growing boom and dynamism within it. Objective. The objective of the present was to determine the entrepreneurial activities that are associated with the creative and cultural industry, which promote employment for women in the labor market of rural locations in Yucatan. Methodology. The research approach was quantitative, considering a 91% confidence level for a sample of 835 people in 5 municipalities of the Yucatecan entity. Results. The results indicate that it is undertaken by women to contribute to family spending, but that, in association with creative and cultural activities, they do not always obtain a constant income and their eventuality is present and low, during Covid-19. in Yucatan. In the same way, it was obtained that more than 70% use procedures without including technology in the elaboration of products and services, as well as 95% for profit, on the other hand, it was detected that it is an activity from which it depends economically in more than 60% of the cases and has an average seniority of 5.5 years in the labor market. Conclusions. The specialization and empowerment of women entrepreneurs become crucial for business continuity and the generation of new panoramas of integration and innovation in this industry, as a main panorama in the creative and cultural industry.
