Bodies, feminisms and recent memory. Repertories of collective action in Argentina post-2015
Abstract
Introduction. In recent years there has been theorizing about the existence of a “fourth wave” of feminism (even though this conceptualization is problematized as such). Certainly, in the second decade of the XXI century feminisms and lgbtqi + movements have experienced a process of massification at a global level. A prominent issue in the specialized literature on this “fourth wave” or cycle of protest is its emergence in the southern hemisphere and its particular strength in Latin America. In this activist map, Argentina has formed one of the significant territories of the struggles of recent years. Objectives. The objective of this text is to analyze the emerging protest repertoires in the cycle of feminist mobilizations that began in 2015 in Argentina, from the first call for #NiUnaMenos, which formed a turning point for the movement; with the purpose of systematizing characteristic features of this activist period. Methodology. The article is based on a qualitative methodology and focuses on bibliographic and documentary review. It addresses milestone phenomena of the analyzed period: the first call for #NiUnaMenos; national and international strikes of women, lesbians, trans and transvestites; and the massive demonstrations for the legalization of voluntary abortion. Results and Discussion. The analysis shows that the corporal, festive and performative dimension, technopolitical activism and internationalism makeup characteristic aspects of the protest cycle that began in 2015. There is also a resignification of the concepts of strike and work, as well as acts as a trigger for the struggles the increase in femicides, with the issue of care and legal abortion also playing a fundamental role. Contribution. The writing contributes to studies on recent memory of feminisms, systematizing a corpus of texts (theoretical and activist) of the utmost relevance.
