Digital artivism as a visibility of femicides / feminicides during social, preventive and compulsory isolation
Abstract
Introduction. This article approach gender violence in its most extreme manifestation, femicides and feminicides. The research will consider the impact of the coronavirus pandemic from a double dimension: regarding the increase in the number of deaths of women at the hands of femicide and the institutional limits of see about the problem; and on the actions of social groups and artistic expressions of denunciation. Objective. Based on the case study, this work aims to analyze the potential of digital art as a resource for the visibility of femicides and feminicides in public spaces during Preventive Social Isolation implemented in Argentina against the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. Methodology. It is a qualitative analysis focus on approached subject review, compilation of quantitative information from femicides/feminicides indices, review of legislation and analysis, as part of a descriptive type design. Results and contributions. The analysis from the proposed space-time register and the artistic work Cuerpos Ausentes, demonstrates the potential of these languages to transcend the limitations of circulation and occupation of public space to denounce, visualize and recover memories of the victims of gender violence. In this way, becomes as a tool for artistic manifestation inscribed in the tradition that considers artistic manifestations as forms of social agency and search for collective consciousness.
