Abstract

Gender’s category gests into the American feminist academy in the framework of socio-historical studies with the purpose of analyzing the hierarchical and oppressive power relations between the sexes, in order to, ultimately, eliminate the structural inequality hat concerns their sexuate condition. However, far from abolishing gender as a system of oppression, the bio/cis/trans/techno/post-genders return to post-feminist academy as categories of personal desire and self-perception in order to be recognized in their free self-determination. Instead of eliminating gender for the purpose of liberating women, post-feminism has abolished the ontological actuality of women and reified genders by means of a sort of social essentialism assumed as a deep personal identity. Trying to explain in onological-philosophical terms such a paradoxical outcome constitutes the proposal of the following pages.
