Abstract: Introduction. The last decades have shown the importance of measuring inequalities between women and men, not only from the disaggregation of data by sex, but also with the full inclusion of gender indicators. This fact would allow the effective measurement and evaluation of the successes achieved from the policies and plans implemented. Objectives and methodology. In this regard, this paper addresses, from a theoretical and methodological perspective, the relevance of building a monitoring system and indicators that facilitate the evaluation, specifically, the evaluation of results and impact. Basically, these indicators would allow us to objectively know the results and impacts of the equality plans, in order to identify whether or not these results and impacts contribute to the achievement of equality between women and men. Results. Along this line, the paper presented here focuses on analyzing the system of indicators used in the evaluation of the first equality plan that has been developed and implemented at the University of the Balearic Islands (2014-2017). Conclusions and discussion. Based on the analysis of this evaluation, a proposal is made for a system of indicators - gender sensitive - of accomplishment and impact for the evaluation of this equality plan. Finally, the main conclusions that have been drawn from this work are extracted and discussed.
