Resumo

In this article, the impact that the presidential elections of 1932 had on the Madrilenian daily press in the Second Republic is analized. In these electoral meetings Franklin D. Roosevelt was presented as the democratic candidate and he won the election on November 8th, and became the thirty second president of the United States. In 1932, two significant historical moments coincided in the politics of both countries. On the one hand, the American nation chose a democratic president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, to lead the destiny of the country, and on the other hand, in Spain, April 14th, 1931, a democratic political system was set up, the Second Republic. So, in this study, two societies, the American and the Spanish will be related and the written press studied as the means of communication between both of them.
