Abstract
This article analyzes the representation and influence reached by the Twitter profiles of security forces and bodies, emergency services and both regional and national government agencies after the fires in Tarragona in 2019. The sample of 531 tweets was obtained with the NodeXL Pro tool. The results show differences in preferences for the use of hashtags, with emergency agencies being the ones that use them the most. In addition, these same profiles are the ones that use Twitter most frequently to communicate emergency situations and it is also the category with the highest level of influence. Government accounts are the least active. This article also provides recommendations to improve communication in emergency situations.
