The Dreyfus affair: Intellectuals and Spanish press in 1898
Abstract
The complexity of the Dreyfus affair at the end of the 19th century produced a great social interest and the involvement of international public opinion. Moreover, intellectuals took part in the determination to defend, criticize or collaborate in the cause. In order to understand the repercussion in Spain, this article aims to define the activity of the Madrid newspapers "El Liberal", "La Correspondencia de España" and "El Imparcial" as spaces of promotion on the Dreyfus question and intellectual thought in 1898.
