Prensa y economía: Constitución de una esfera pública en la Venezuela de 1830-47. Debates por la modernización y la libertad de imprenta
Abstract
Firstly, some of the Jürgen Habermas’ conclusions on his study of the European public sphere phenomenon will be presented. In that context, a strong relationship was clearly established between the actors that advocated more economical and commercial freedom and the spirit of the press defending that approach. Secondly, we explore some passages of the Venezuelan History between 1830 and 1847, which allows understanding the close relationship aforesaid. In such context, we evaluate the Printing Law promulgated in1839 as part of a liberal modernizer debate in Venezuela.Downloads
