El desafío de Lula frente a los medios de comunicación de Brasil

Abstract

The purpose of this work is to verify if the last presidential elections occurred in Brazil, which culminated in a historical victory of the Labour Party’s member, Luís Inácio Lula da Silva, will imply a change in the proceedings of communication means. Our interest is to examine if Lula will have support from these means to achieve his project of government. After a summary of the trajectory of the media in the biggest country of Latin America, we will try to answer these questions, which motivated the present work. Conside2 ring the first months of Lula’s government and the process of his candidacy, we think that Lula will probably have to establish a government of alliances and agreements, in such a way that this government neither displeases the expectative of poor population nor certain interests of privileged sectors. It will be necessary to work hard in order to handle with this situation, and if the president succeeds in maintaining a reasonable balance, we believe that he will be able to count on the support of the great communication means.
