Pepita Pardell (1928-2019), notas sobre la trayectoria de una artista silenciada
Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate Pepita Pardell's career (1928-2019), focusing on her work on Balet y Blay company, which was an important movie company in Barcelona, responsible for the first animated and colored feature film made in Spain: Garbancito de la Mancha (1945). At a methodological level, we have analyzed documents located on Filmoteca de Catalunya in Barcelona and the Museu del Cinema in Girona, including some of Pepita Pardell's diaries. We also consulted digital newspaper libraries from the newspapers La Vanguardia and El Periódico. The main results highlight techniques, spaces, events, and materials related to Pepita Pardell's career as other women's presence and work. Those work experiences contributed in a fundamental way to the history of animation in Catalonia and Spain.
