The Madrid press during the Transition to democracy. History and internal functioning of ABC, Diario 16 and El País
Abstract
The present paper delves into the history, the editorial line and inner workings of ABC, Diario 16 and El País during the Transition to democracy. The research method is approached from a double perspective. On the one hand, an exhaustive and detailed bibliographic review is carried out based on specific studies on the three newspapers to date and, on the other hand, oral history is used. Through in-depth and semi-structured interviews to seventeen journalists, it is revealed, with first-person testimonies, how journalistic praxis will be carried out in the three most paradigmatic and successful newspapers in the capital of Spain during the period under study.
