Credibility at stake: Analysis of the contest rules of online film festivals
Abstract
The number of specialized film festivals increases due to the safety and cost reduction that distribution platforms provide. Business interest shows some practices that cast doubt on its credibility and cultural value. Given certain practices and the new online formats, this article aims to know the transparency in the management of the contest section. The 17,738 festivals have been taken as the universe of study that bring together the main registration platforms. The results of the quantitative and qualitative analysis of online film festivals show the existence of events of little credibility because they do not offer essential data in relation to their competitive section.
