From copla to rock & roll and pop: The pioneers and most influential Spanish musical radio hosts (1960-1965)
Abstract
At the beginning of the sixties some radio hosts dared to break down some musical and radio barriers that had lasted for twenty years in our country, becoming the leaders of rock & roll and pop music and creating new ways of radio communication. Through content analysis, documentary review, in-depth interview and historical method, it will be possible to find out that the Chilean Raúl Matas and the flight radio Ángel Álvarez were the most influential musical announcers of this period. Analyzing their figure and that of their most important predecessor, Ernesto Lacalle, we can understand how relevant these personalities were to the history of musical radio and what legacy did they leave us.
