The Regional Press in Spain: Analysis and Economic and Editorial prospective
Abstract
Spanish press sector is characterized, among other things, by the lack of success in their commercial units dedicated to paper and the inescapable search for models that allow for their continuity. This article aims to analyze the main journalistic groups in the regional sphere, based on the autonomic distribution and behavior of some of their newspapers. The cases studied are Joly, Henneo, Zeta, Prensa Ibérica, Serra, Vocento, Promecal, Edigrup Media, Godó, Voz and Noticias. In all groups the main figures of the economic activity (incomes and EBITDA) and the figures linked to newspapers output (circulation and dissemination) are analyzed. The results allow quantifying the gradual loss of market share of regional newspapers.
