Abstract

In comparison to other war cycles of the past more prone to heroism (World War I and II), the cycle of Iraq War shows a double dehumanization: one which is exerted in adversary (torture, mistreatment) and one which is experienced by the soldier himself (anguish, absence of objectives) in a peculiar warlike context: invisible enemy, terrorist attacks, etc. The dehumanization of the soldier also surfaces after his return to home. An analysis on the content of major films of Iraq War allow us to study this phenomenon related to its causes and effects.
