Women and Political Thought through the Feminist Press: The Case of Des Femmes en Mouvements
Abstract
This paper analyzes the political thought and historical context of a feminist journal, Des Femmes en Mouvements, which was linked to the Mouvement de Libération des Femmes (MFL – Women’s Liberation Movement) in France during the 1970s. Promoted by the influential group Politique et Psychanalyse (Politics and Psychoanalysis), it published contents of great importance for the feminist movement and theoretical reflection, as well as stories about the political and social situation of women in several places around the world. It was a place of encounter for activists; a forum for debates about female rights and struggles, and a space to display the political and artistic concerns of women in that period. Their pages also hosted the work of names as relevant as Hélène Cixous, Kate Millett, or Lidia Falcón.
