José Antonio Aguirre's oath, an inauguration in the Spanish Civil War
Abstract
The current research studies the informative treatment of the Jose Antonio Aguirre’s inauguration in the Spanish press of the time. It is a ceremony considered as an historical event of great importance in the symbolic construction of the Basque Country, which takes place in the middle of Spanish Civil War. Through an analysis of the published news, we delve into the use, both Republican and Francoist sides, of the press as a actors and political transmitters of propaganda.
