Abstract

The article analyzes the professional trajectory Blanca Álvarez in Televisión Española. The main objectives are to define the situation of women in television from the dictatorship to democracy and to show the processes for their access and professional advance. The choice of Blanca Álvarez as a case study is justified by her early incorporation to Televisión Española (1958), as well as being the first woman to hold an executive position. The study of her career is, therefore, relevant to reflect on the margins established by the Franco regime for women in the field of media.
