The maternal figure in the Pixar cinema
The case of the Incredibles saga
Abstract
The mother figure has been represented in the cinema since its birth. Our goal is to know the importance of the maternal character within the Animation Cinema of the s. XXI. We will apply the qualitative methodology of content analysis to two of the most blockbuster works in the history of animation: The Incredibles (2014) and The Incredibles 2 (2018). We will focus on the different dimensions of the mother represented. We will also analyze his way of acting to compare it with the paternal character. Regarding the results, we have verified that the maternal representation carried out is positive and conforms to the current western mother figure. We affirm that the largometrajes analyzed promote the value of motherhood among the public of all ages.
