Abstract
This work is part of a broader study of television programming from 1990 to the analog blackout in 2010. This article is trying to approach on the information programming of general interest channels (TVE-1, TVE-2, Antena 3 TV and Telecinco) during its first five years of cohabitation or competition, say from 1990 to 1994. Television deregulation in Spain allowed the birth of the private channels in the national context. This situation affected the existing panorama until then. From 1956 to 1990, the state held the monopoly on television broadcasting and TVE had no domestic competition. The changes introduced in the 90’s had created a new landscape completely.
