Abstract

The origins of applied research in Spain are closely linked to the need of modeling the social transformations to develop the consumption society. The oral testimonies and life stories of key characters in that process realize how the distrust towards sociology of the Franco regime promoted a strong focus on commercial research on consumption, concentrating in the Research Industry all the infrastructure and resources necessary for the production of applied social research.
