Abstract

The sportswomen’s image during the first post war years is analyzed, from 1945 until the arrival of television (1954) as shown in the Italian cinematographic news reels. A quantitative and qualitative analysis of the news featuring sportswomen is made, and the types of sporties activities which are normally linked to them and they way they are portrayed are established.
