Evaluación de alumnos más capaces: la medida de la inteligencia en diferentes contextos
Abstract
This study presents the results obtained from an experimental version of the Sternberg Triarchic Abilities Test (STAT) from two samples of subjects from elementary (n = 1255) and secondary (n = 275) schools. This test, devised by Dr. Sternberg, aims to evaluate intelligence within contexts of significant information by using Sternberg’s model of triarchic intelligence. The study aims to establish consistency in selecting students on the basis of the results obtained from two tests of intelligence: a classical intelligence test, such as the Cattell Factor “g” test, and the STAT. The results reveal that only a moderate relationship exists between the results of both tests and that the STAT shows a greater relation with academic performance and with the identification criteria of the professors. The STAT, therefore, emerges as a new intelligence evaluation instrument geared more toward performance than potential ability.Downloads
