Abstract

Francisco de Quevedo has come being considered, till now, a unique satirical writer, a singular case in the Spanish letters and a declared enemy of the count duke of Olivares; nevertheless, and in the light of the studies of discourse analysis, we see in Quevedo an effort, on the one hand, of reaffirmation and a search of an identity on wich to build his literary work; and, for other one, a sound box of the ideological trends of the society that he had to live. In this respect, Quevedo would be one more gear –like Cervantes, Villamediana and different so many people– of the complex ideological functioning of the Spain of the Austrias. From his letters, we can watch the different attitudes that in the 17th century were taking place.
