Sierra Morena de las mujeres. Un entremés de Luis de Belmonte Bermúdez
Abstract
Luis de Belmonte Bermúdez (ca. 1587-ca.1649) is the author of several plays (some nineteen) written by himself and in collaboration with authors such as Mira de Amescua, Vélez de Guevara, and Calderón de la Barca, among others. This one-act play, Sierra morena de las mujeres, is one of his eight entremeses. It deals with the topic of banditry (dealt with in a burlesque or carnivalesque manner) as performed by women in the city of Madrid. This article offers an exhaustive comparison with other entremeses and works by Belmonte Bermúdez.Downloads
