Del Romanticismo al Modernismo: análisis del medievalismo en la prensa ilustrada de las décadas realistas.
Abstract
TUs artiele deals with medievalism in the illustrated magazines during the second halfofthe nineteenth century, between 1860 and 1890. This movement concems Art as well as Literature and History. A renovation of a never ending interest towards the Middle Ages happened in these years, from the retrospective realism of plastic arts to the achievements of scientific positivism and the most frivolous fashions of modem society. The imagery of the Middle Ages was built up starting from a conception of past that was influenced by the different intellectual and social movements found in this moment, for example socialism or feminism. Realizing how realist writers were also attracted to Ihe medieval world, and how this medievalism developes from Romantieism to Modernism gives us imponant revelations about culture in this time.Downloads
