Abstract

In this article, I have analysed the diverse spaces presented in the titles: Paraíso inhabitado and Demonios familiares by Ana María Matute. To this purpose, I have applied as main methodological basis the research on the space published by Gaston Bachelard, Poetics of space, stablishing a connection between the character’s interaction with the space and the house construction. I will demonstrate the existing relationship between the entry into a new stage of life (childhood, adolescence and maturity), the preservation of the memory and the transformation of the space. The results would be applicable to other works of the same author.
