Innovaciones al mito de Pandora en "La estatua de Prometeo", de Calderón
Abstract
The presence of myth as a vehicle to create has been generally used in different artistic manifestations. This ocurres in Calderón´s play La estatua de Prometeo, especially in the figure of Pandora. This figure is characterized under a new identity away from the Classical tradition. This way Pandora gets rif of the unfavorable image as an instrument of Jupiter´s vengeance. In the drama Prometheus creates Pandora´s statue to divine image. Alegoric meaning with which the civilized man is shown the way towards God. The neoplatonic view of the estatue provokes jelousy in Palas who sends Discordia with an urn containing smoke as a present to Pandora who rejects it in a completely new atittude. The urn containing the blurred smoke triggers a fraternal conflict solved by divine action and the marriage between Prometheus and Pandora.Downloads
