La documentación histórica y la publicística del siglo XVIII. El IV Duque de Uceda y su correspondencia con don Félix de la Cruz Aedo
Abstract
Under the title: “Papeles pertenecientes al Duque de Uzeda tomados y aprehendidos por Estado el 1711” a bunch of letters contains interesting information regarding the life of the Duke of Uceda (1649-1718), and his attitude towards the news arriving from Italy to Spain during the last years of the Spanish Succession War. The interest of these documents (dated between November 1707 and December 1710) lies in the fact that they offer an unofficial version of the circumstances he was involved and in which he played an active role, as well as his personal points of view and personality’s features. These would explain the reasons lying behind the changes affecting his political affinities. Most of the letters remain unpublished at the moment. In fact, the official version given by Vicente Bacallar y Sanna, Marqués de San Felipe, in his book Comentarios a la Guerra de España e historia de su rey Felipe V el Animoso constrasts with this new version about the same period of time.Downloads
