Citizen journalism and audiovisual archives: verification, use and management of CGU images
Abstract
Citizen journalism is here to stay. UGC (User Generated Content) images are already an audiovisual source in the editorial newsrooms of the television networks, becoming the opening images of the news bulletin. Due to UGC images have specific characteristics they have to be subjected to a verification process before using them. The management of this type of images supposes a challenge for audiovisual archives and documentalists must know the verification procedures, as well as the ethical and legal implications linked to the CGU images to determine and value their incorporation into the audiovisual archive.Downloads
