Paying the social debt: the decline of the state public social protection system in Argentina
Abstract
This article offers a reflection on four large movements that define the decline of a state public social protection system in contemporary Argentina: from the right to protection to the chance of credit; from the group to the individual; from equality to fairness; and from citizenship to meritocracy. Though these trajectories are observed in various areas of the public-state spectrum, this article will analyse the proposed reforms regarding labour and social welfare policy that are being offered by the governing alliance in the media and in parliament, since they represent a thorough summary of the four above-mentioned movements.Downloads
