Assessment of the nutritional state of food aid users
Abstract
This article presents an evaluation of the nutritional state of a sample of persons requesting food aid, with the aim of establishing a basis for future actions directed at improving nutrition for vulnerable groups by designing programmes that integrate access to various foods and are balanced from a nutritional perspective. To respond to this question, the data obtained from a sample of 37 persons in situations of material deprivation and benefiting from food aid programmes were compared with data from a control group made up of 35 subjects from a middle-high socio-economic level, with the same age intervals and distribution of sex. The data presented show the existence of differences in the nutritional patterns of the test and control groups, revealing aspects that could be taken into account in designing nutrition improvement programmes for the analysed group.Downloads
