Some considerations about the crime of adultery: a process of the Late Eighteenth Century
Abstract
On the basis of an adultery lawsuit raised in the Late Eighteenth Valladolid, this work is set as a reflection on the changes taking place in the laws which deal with this crime, as well as the doctrine and judicial practice throughout the 18th, 19th and first half of the 20th. Issues such as the behavior that is considered constitutive of the crime; the penalty with which it is usually punished: who is entitled to launch a process on adultery; the consequences of forgiveness from the offended husband; what happened to children born of adultery ... These are just some examples ot the matters which are dealt in this paper matters, with the goal to get us closer to the hard and difficult reality faced by the families suffering this crime’s consequences.Downloads
