Abstract

The programmes addressed to prevent and deal with mobbing at work are an attempt to get a healthy workplace for all the employees. Generally speaking, they are also aimed at the future and tend to be proactive rather than reactive. This means that these programmes are better understood as an attempt to create conditions that improve the quality of working life over the short and long run. During the last few years guidelines have been developed for organizations to adopt these action plans. The guidelines have required extensive analyses of the prevalence and incidence of mobbing across many firms in different countries, and the best ways of dealing with this complex and elusive reality. From the present evidences, it can be concluded that only by being sensitive to the societal as well as to its internal demands can an organization motivate its human resources towards the much-valued goals of job performance and satisfaction.
