Interdisciplinary research at the Cerro de la Mesa site (Alcolea de Tajo, Toledo). Archaeology and Geophysics for Heritage conservation
Abstract
The present paper summarizes the importance of the Cerro de la Mesa site (Alcolea de Tajo, Toledo) for analyzing of the Late Bronze Age and Iron Age in the central plateau of the Iberian Peninsula. Considering its strategic position at the confluence of the Tajo and Huso rivers, a series of GPR (Ground-Penetrating Radar) surveys were conducted to understand the site as a whole and to comprehend its urban layout and geographical adaptation. The presented work concludes by summarizing the visual interpretations made from the geophysical results and confirming, once again, the importance of interdisciplinary studies for protecting Historical and Archaeological Heritage.
