Abstract

The location of El Castillo necropolis in summer 1999 has meant the opening of a new horizon in the research about protohistorical funerary world in Upper and Medium Ebro valley. The variety and showiness of its tumulus, the singularity of its good-graves and its exceptional conservation state, place us in front of one of the archaeological sites which will be able to provide in the very next future a bigger and more accurate amount of information about different aspects, as much in these related to funeral ritual, as these which refer to ethnic adscription of this area, to its social and economical organization, or to its trade exchanges. The present paper intends to do a first approach to the archaeology of this cemetery.
