Abstract

Style, rock art and society in Central Chile. In this paper we discuss the concept of style from a rock art viewpoint and we propose an holistic definition to it. This definition includes from the drawings to settlement patterns of the rock art stations. We exemplify our proposition with a study of the preincaic and incaic rock art from Central Chile, where we suggest the importance of studying rock art to understand the prehispanic processes of social construction of reality.
