The territorial and social organisation of the Bronze Age populations in the prebetic mountains
Abstract
This article analyzes the Bronze Age settlement (2150-1500 cal BC) in the pre-Baetic mountain ranges, based on a case study such as the Yecla-Caudete corridor and the set of studies carried out in this geographical area. The analysis of the location, catchment area, visibility, surface size and territorial distribution of a set of 33 sites, a uniform pattern of occupation of the territory is determined among the larger settlements and grouped, but random, of the smaller ones around the previous ones. These characteristics it can be inferred that the Prebético communities carried out a fully organized occupation of the territory, ensuring economic self-sustainability and the generational transmission of properties.
