Rural installations of Early Iron Age in the Tagus Valley, in its European context. The Soto del Henares deposit (Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid).
Abstract
This paper presents a new and reduced occupation of Early Iron Age located in the lower valley of Henares river near the Ecce Homo hill. It is an installation characterized by the coexistence of excavated structures and of large dimensions air constructions. These last are elongated rectangular plant with polygonal heads, are documented by the postholes that support them, and represent a substantial change from the traditional pit sites. The structures were designed as independent units with varied orientations, which have large spaces between them. Its features have been interpreted as contemporary agricultural farms, which are common in Western Europe.
