Abstract

The peasant population is perhaps one of the least analysed social subjects in the Iberian protohistory because its activity is poorly reflected in the archaeological record. In order to contribute to its knowledge, we propose a work scheme that collects the information from archaeological activities, bioarchaeological data and Catchment Area analyses. This scheme has been applied to the study of well-known villages or farm type settlements in the middle section of the Guadiana river between the 7th-5th centuries BC to prove its usefulness and understand the role that the peasantry played in the social and economic development of the population of this region during the First Iron Age.
