Abstract

The present investigation has as its main objective the paleodemographic and paleoauxological study of the human group whose skeletal remains have been excavated in the chalcolythic tomb of El Perdido. It is about a collective burial belonging to an "extended familiar group" in a temporal lapse of, approximately, a century. The presence of a minimum of 78 individuals of both sexes in all categories has been determined. It’s demographic structure is altered by the high infant mortality which affects individuals between five and nine years of age. The demographic profile of this group does not fit the models established for populations of the Ancient Demographic Regime (ADR), and it could be associated to a catastrophic profile. The paleoauxologic study shows that it refers to a human group of low height whose individuals had a normal growth.
