The use of archaeological sites presented as museums. Context and characterization of visits to such sites in the area of the Costa Brava
Abstract
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the Empúries archaeological site opened its doors to visitors. Since then, numerous sites in the area have been made ready for visits. In many cases, the work that has been undertaken is related with the use of the sites as tourist attractions. In this paper, we analyse the characteristics of use of the archaeological sites by their visitors. In particular, we situate the visits in the more general context of tourist’s holidays or day trips in the area.Downloads
