Devociones ejemplares: algunas pautas en la relación de Manuel de Falla y Ernesto Halffter
Abstract
This article reviews various aspects of the professional and affective relationship between Manuel de Falla and Ernesto Halffter, following Adolfo Salazar’s presentation of the latter to the great composer. The circumstances surrounding their early meetings in Granada will be analysed, as well as the criticism of his works and the musical advice Halffter absorbed as a result of his close relationship with the composer and Falla’s moral and the material support of his pupil. Finally, the influence of Falla’s works on Halffter’s music is explored, as are various issues relating to Halffter’s role in the completion of Atlántida.
