La construcción del sistema nacional de conservatorios en España (1892-1942)
Abstract
This article describes the evolution of the national music conservatory system in Spain, from its origins until its initial legal formulisation. After presenting the ideas and projects of the nineteenth century, the discussion focuses on the period in which the system was consolidated (from 1892 to 1942) and the central/peripheral tension defining it. At the same time, an explanation of the significance educational systems took on in the contemporary world provides keys to interpreting the process in the debate about the construction of a national and modern State and musical identity.
