Rock progresivo español de los 70: análisis e interpretación de sus parámetros musicales

Abstract

Progressive rock is a very versatile style that originated in England at the end of the 1960s and is mainly characterised by formal complexity, stylistic fusion, instrumental dexterity and its closer relationship to art music. Spain was not indifferent to this aesthetic, presenting its own version of the most archetypal patterns of both the Anglo-Saxon aesthetic and local elements, most of which were taken from traditional music. In this article the author conducts an in-depth study of the characteristics of progressive rock in Spain during the 1970s, using music analysis as its main methodology, setting the phenomenon in its cultural context and determining the importance of a repertory that still prevails today.
