De Berlín a Madrid, o la huella del teatro musical germánico en la obra temprana de Pablo Sorozábal Mariezkurrena
Abstract
This article aims to trace the influence of German music theatre from the interwar period on the stage music composed by Pablo Sorozábal Mariezkurrena (Donostia-San Sebastián, 1897-Madrid, 1988). This connection was barely implied by the composer in marginal declarations, and critics have only recently suggested it, yet it is a very plausible hypothesis, as Sorozábal’s extended stay in Germany (1920-1932) coincided with the rise of German Zeitoper and the beginning of his own stage career. By analysing certain musical and dramatic characteristics, the existence of these bonds of union will hopefully be proven.
