Vital Aza Álvarez-Buylla En el centenario de su fallecimiento
Abstract
During the 1880s and 1890s works by Vital Aza, written either alone or in conjunction with Miguel Ramos Carrión, flooded the stages of theatres including the Variedades, Comedia, Español and especially the Lara. Among them were El señor gobernador, Zaragüeta, La praviana, El padrón municipal and El sombrero de copa. He was also successful in music theatre, responsible for the libretto to La calandria, Coro de señoras, Los lobos marinos and, above all, El rey que rabió. A regular contributor to Madrid Cómico, his festive poetry made him very popular, not only in Spain but in Latin America. He also played an active role in the authors’ liberation movement, culminating in the creation of the Sociedad de Autores Españoles (SAE) on 16 June 1899, becoming its first president.Downloads
