Un cine musical para la Hispanidad. Canción y dramaturgia en la “españolada ranchera”
Abstract
A series of films were produced in Spain and Mexico from the mid-1940s until well into the 1960s combining two of the most significant forms of their respective national film-making industries: the españolada and the comedia ranchera. This article proposes the use of the term “españoladas rancheras” as a means of denominating a “Spanish” form of musical and popular film, given the relationship between Spain as a former colonial power and Mexico as a predominant country in Latin-American film production at the time.Downloads
